Our Full Review

The Mulligan is a powerful redemptive story – a faith-based golf film… not all about golf, this is a must-see film for everyone.

The film, based on the popular book by Ken Blanchard and Wally Armstrong follows an intensely driven CEO, Paul McAlister is a success in everything — except life. Separated from his wife and estranged from his son, Paul’s steely-eyed focus remains solely on his next boardroom mega-deal. But like an errant tee-shot on a difficult hole, Paul’s life could use a do-over … a “mulligan.” With the help of a new friend known as “the Old Pro,” Paul is challenged to focus more on his priorities and purpose than pitching and putting. Desperate to make something good of a situation gone bad, Paul discovers he needs the ultimate mulligan.

This is an example of a faith-based film that has got it right and is in our opinion one of the best of this year. The story flows and contains humour, emotion and twists and turns, it is well directed, the sound is immersive and Eric Close along with Pat Boone really bring this to life.

Yes this is a golf film, but don’t let that put you off if you are not a fan of golf, it is not just a golf film, there are so many elements through this film, making it enjoyable for all and relatable to many, it will prompt you to look at your life, your relationships, how you work and your faith.

The film presents the Gospel easily and without preaching, making this accessible to all while giving people a message to think about.

Overall The Mulligan is an enjoyable must-see film that is suitable for everyone, golf fans and even non golf fans, the messages of grace and redemption that flow through this film will touch every heart, this is an entertaining and powerful movie.
