2017 is here and that means there are some great new Christian films to look forward to seeing this year. Last year we saw the release of some excellent films including God’s Not Dead 2, The Masked Saint, Alison’s Choice, Priceless and I’m Not Ashamed to name a few. This year here are some of the films we are looking forward to seeing, we hope you are too.
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone – January 20th (US)
This faith based inspirational comedy follows a washed-up former child star, Gavin Stone, who is forced to do 200 hours of community service at a local megachurch. Gavin pretends to be a Christian so that he can land the part of Jesus in their annual Easter Passion Play, only to discover that the most important role of his life is far from the bright lights of Hollywood. Along the way, he reconnects with his past and builds upon his faith.

The Shack – March 3rd (US)
The Shack follows Mack Phillips (Sam Worthington) who has spiralled into a deep depression after suffering a family tragedy (the abduction and assumed murder of his daughter), causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness where his daughter may have been murdered. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa (Octavia Spencer). Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.

The Case for Christ – April 7th (US)
Based on the true life story of Lee and Leslie Strobel, whose marriage struggled mightily as her growing faith collided with Lee’s determined atheism. The dramatic retelling of their journey offers heart and a human touch on the in-depth research Lee Strobel conducted. Based on Lee’s book The Case for Christ which details his journey of conversion from atheism to Christianity.
