Victor is a hard hitting film and isn’t afraid to depict the effects of gangs and drug addiction, but also isn’t afraid to show the freeing transformation that Jesus can bring to lives, as we see Victor give his life over to Christ, we see the freedom and hope that he experiences, bringing some touching and moving moments to the film. The message from the film and from Victor’s life is that Jesus Christ can transform any life, no matter how far you’ve gone or no matter how addicted one could be whether to drugs or anything else, freedom can be found in total surrender to Jesus Christ.

The film based on the autobiography under the same name, shares the true story of gang leader turned pastor Victor Torres. As a teen, he had to survive the dark streets of 1962 Brooklyn after his family moved from Puerto Rico seeking the American Dream. Enslaved by the power of the gang community, a hunger to make fast money and an all-consuming addiction to heroin, Victor needed healing and restoration before he destroyed his family and himself. This film tells the redemptive story of the rebellion of a son, the love and faith of a mother, and the faith to overcome impossible odds.

Victor features a great cast that includes Rick Gonzalez (The CW s ‘’Arrow’’, Coach Carter), Josh Pence (La La Land, The Social Network), Cortney Palm (Sushi Girl) and Khleo Thomas (Role Bounce, Holes), Lisa Vidal (BET’s ‘’Being Mary Jane’’, Star Trek, Chasing Papi), Jose Zuniga, and Matt Marquez (‘’Pretty Little Liars’’, Creed).

Richard Smith is the founder of The Christian Film Review. His passion is to generate a buzz about Christian film and get people informed and excited about Christian films, showcasing the alternatives that in this day in age are a light in the darkness of what society is promoting.
