UK Cinemas have again come under the spotlight for banning an advert which features a Nativity Scene.
Digital Cinema Media (DCM) which manages the advertising for the UK’s top cinemas (Odeon, Vue and Cineworld) has refused to show the Christmas advert citing their rules of not accepting religious advertising.
This is the second time in the past month that DCM has come under fire, previously refusing to show an advert which features the Lord’s Prayer. DCM has been accused of hypocrisy after allowing a short film featuring Hindu gods, as well as showing adverts deemed unsuitable for young people.
ChurchAds.net which produced the advert said: “This advert is very mild stuff; it beggars belief that anyone would want to ban it… Our aim is to gently remind people of why and what we celebrate at Christmas; and to do so in a contemporary and creative way.”
