MGM is buying the part of United Artists Media Group held by Hearst, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, and has appointed Mark Burnett as president of MGM’s Television and Digital Group, while Roma Downey will become president of LightWorkers Media – the faith and family division of the Television and Digital Group.
Mark Burnett is known for creating TV hits including The Apprentice, The Voice and Survivor, he is also known for producing faith based content such as The Bible TV series alongside his wife Roma Downey.
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey are also planning an faith and family based online TV service which will be part of the LightWorkers Media division, which aims to provide original programming as well as showing faith and family based shows such as Touched by an Angel and Little House on the Prairie. The online channel is due to launch before the end of 2016.
