We chatted with producer Darren Moorman about his upcoming film, Same Kind Of Different As Me and about the Red Carpet for the Homeless event.
Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
I want to tell amazing true stories that have universal themes like love, hope, redemption, reconciliation, themes that represent my worldview!
What inspired you to become a film producer?
I always loved story telling, and to be honest there is no better way to tell great stories than to Produce Movies
What drew you to the film Same Kind Of Different As Me?
I loved the book from the minute I read it, and have always dreamed of bringing it to the Big Screen
Do you have a favourite scene in the movie?
The Dance Scene
Tell us about the Red Carpet for Homeless event
We are very fortunate to have partnered with the Missions across the country, and believe it is a great way to kick off the release of Same Kind of Different as Me, as well as bring awareness and hope for the homeless across America.
There are 150 missions that are putting on Red Carpet Events, October 18th is an amazing night that has come together in an incredible way!
What inspired you to put this together?
I was able to screen the movie for 200 Mission Leaders and it became a very natural way for the mission leaders to tell their story and for the filmmakers to find an amazing grassroots path to our audience
How would you encourage people to help the homeless?
Don’t just give them money, but enter into a conversation allows a relationship to happen, they are human beings that need emotional connection just as much as physical nourishment
What do you hope viewers will take away from the film?
That Forgiveness is powerful, Hope is Beautiful, and Every Life Matters
What is your next for you?
I’m very fortunate to have 2 other movies (Run the Race and Indivisible) that I’ve produced that will be released in 2018, and to also have a few other amazing stories that will make amazing movies (Northern Lights, Dog Whisperer, Through the Storm).
RESERVE ENTERTAINMENT is my company, based on the idea of a Reserve Wine or Reserve Coffee being known as the Best…
Same Kind Of Different As Me will be released in US theatres on October 20th 2017.
