David is an outstanding family friendly, animated musical based on the life of David in 1 and 2 Samuel.

From the songs of his mother’s heart to the whispers of a faithful God, David’s story begins in quiet devotion. When the giant Goliath rises to terrorise a nation, a young shepherd armed with only a sling, a few stones and unwavering faith steps forward. Pursued by power and driven by purpose, his journey tests the limits of loyalty, love and courage — culminating in a battle not just for a crown, but for the soul of a kingdom.

First off, the CGI animation is wonderful, it is superbly animated and detailed, it is one of best animations in terms of quality, that is one reason to see this movie. 

Another reason to see this film is the amazing score and soundtrack, again in terms of quality it is outstanding along with some fantastic songs that you’ll be singing long after the credits have rolled. You’ll also recognise Phil Wickham in the film as he plays the older David. 

Thirdly and this is the top reason to see this, the story, yes there is of course some artistic licence at play, but overall the story sticks to 1 and 2 Samual and brings to life the story of David in musical, that is accessible to all and suitable for most of the family (there are some scenes that younger viewers might find scary). There will be plenty of scenes from David’s story that will become people favourites including the battle with Goliath. 

The story really encourages young people to stay strong and to stand up for God even when you are small, because God can use anyone he chooses not matter how small or young you are. 

Overall David is a high quality animated musical that the whole family will enjoy, with awesome songs and a great re-telling of David from 1 and 2 Samuel, it is well worth watching.
