Bonhoeffer is a powerful, gripping and dramatic film chronicling the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
The film is based on the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor and theologian who courageously opposed the Nazi regime and became a key figure in the resistance movement. Bonhoeffer emerged as a powerful voice for good during one of history’s darkest chapters. His eventual arrest and execution by the Gestapo in 1945, just two weeks before the War’s end, have left a lasting legacy of resistance to tyranny and injustice.
The film is well written and directed by Todd Kormarnicki and is his most important film to date. The cinematography is incredible and coupled with the direction and strong acting especially from Jonas Dassler as Dietrich Bonhoeffer makes this a thrilling and emotional drama that honours the life of Bonhoeffer.
There is some artistic licence and differences in the movie, mainly the order of some events, but they do not distract or change from the story. If you’ve not heard Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s life story, this is a the perfect time to find out about him and his faith.
This is a timely film with all that is going on in the world right now, that encourages us to respond not only with moral courage but to look out for the marginalised, befriend the downtrodden, to spread peace and to live in peace, to show the love and compassion of Jesus and to share the Gospel no matter what it will cost. This is a must see movie.
Bonhoeffer will be out in UK and Irish cinemas from 7th March 2025. For more information and to book tickets go to www.bonhoefferfilm.com
