Our Full Review

Alison’s Choice is an extremely powerful film with a bold and much needed pro-life message.

The film follows the story of Alison, who discovering she is pregnant by her dead-beat boyfriend, turns to abortion. In the clinic as she waits for her name to be called, she is faced with a big choice, to go through with it or to keep the baby. Amongst the receptionist, a counsellor and other girls in the clinic all offering her advice she encounters a janitor. The two begin to talk and it becomes clear that he is no mere janitor but the living God, Jesus Christ who has come to plead for the life of her baby. When the nurse calls Alison’s name, what will she choose?

Alison’s Choice is written, produced and directed by Bruce Marchiano, and he has done a fantastic job. The story is relevant and well written and whilst the subject of the film is emotional and intense, it features a lot of comedy throughout, which helps to carry the message and give the emotions a rest.

The cast is brilliant with Chanel Marriott bringing the character of Alison to life, we feel her struggles and questions, making her a believable teenager going through this situation, many will be able to relate to her. Bruce Marchiano also puts in a stellar performance as Jesus (the janitor), boldly bringing across the message.

The main theme of this film is abortion and pro-life and it will give people insight and a new understanding of abortion. There are many powerful scenes including where we see Jesus weeping as girls go in and have their babies terminated and we see Jesus show Alison her baby and what she will grow up to be like. It also touches on why there is suffering in the world, free will and the choices we make and it also really brings home how much Jesus suffered on the cross, how much pain He was in when He took all of our sins upon Him.

Alison’s Choice is extremely powerful and the message in the film must be heard, it is very emotional, hard hitting and bold. Lives are sure to be changed and saved. This is a must see film.
