Courageous Legacy is a re-release of the Kendrick Brothers 10 year old hit film Courageous and it is still a must see movie that is extremely relevant for today.
Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. When tragedy hits home, they are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to their children?
Those of you that have seen the original Courageous will enjoy this Legacy version, the story will feel familiar but it has been re-edited with extra footage, a tighter flow and an all new ending which follows up on the characters 10 years later. It has all the hallmarks of the original, still with plenty of thrilling action-packed scenes, comedy, emotion and a strong faith filled message.
The film’s focus on fathering is much needed today with so many growing up with absent fathers, but the message also takes on a new meaning for those of us who are now fathers since watching the original Courageous. The messages in this film don’t just apply to fathers, they apply to us in every walk of life. The film leaves us wanting to make sure we bring our children up in God’s way, to be men of courage and impact our children’s lives, and to be the light in this dark world, to be honest and reliable, for our children, friends, colleagues to see Jesus in us.
Overall Courageous Legacy is well directed and improves upon the original. It is still thrilling and enjoyable and still has an impactful and lasting message. Even if you have or haven’t seen the first version go see Courageous Legacy, do not miss it.
