Wish For Christmas is wonderful Christmas story with an interesting twist that will have you engaged, encouraged and ready to share the true meaning of Christmas.
The film follows Anna, a high school senior and undeniable queen of campus, who has a knack for getting things her way. She even orchestrated her crush, Colton, into asking her to the town’s biggest event, the winter dance. But when the dance is moved to Christmas Eve, Anna’s Christian parents inform her that she can no longer attend and will have to miss the town’s winter dance to attend the church Christmas Eve service. Anna makes a desperate wish that her parents would lose their faith and her wish is granted. Anna enjoys her newfound freedom until her faithless parents bring disastrous consequences to her family and community, even causing Colton and his father to lose their home. Anna embarks on a mission to bring her parents back to their faith. But when her goal fails she discovers that it is her own journey and faith that needs tending.
This is a well produced film, which has an independent film feel, but with a solid, engaging and interesting story line, that makes for a must see Christmas film.
The twist of the story adds a uniqueness when Anna wishes for her parents to lose their faith, it happens over night, with Anna and friends and family wondering what has happened to them, and this is where it gets going and where we see how Jesus can change lives.
The cast are great and Anna Fricks who plays Anna really carries the film along, bringing a realism to her character and is perfect in the role. We see her character change and develop from a high school senior who always wants her own way to something who realises they made a mistake to taking a journey of faith that changes her. Her interactions with Bill Engvall’s character bring humour and emotion to the film.
Overall Wish For Christmas is enjoyable and inspiring with the storyline twist adding to this engaging Christmas film. This is a wonderful Christmas movie for the whole family that will have you laughing while encouraging us to share and focus on the true meaning of Christmas instead of ourselves.
