All Saints is an entertaining, inspiring and thought provoking true story that packs some strong, faith building messages.
Inspired by a true story, All Saints follows pastor Michael Spurlock and the tiny church he was ordered to shut down. While developers are eyeing the property and the land, the church begins to welcome Karen refugees from Burma. Pastor Michael feels called by God to turn their land into a working farm to pay the church’s bills and feed the Karen. With the Karen people and the congregation, Michael jeopardises his family’s future by ignoring his superiors. Michael must choose between finishing what he was assigned to do, closing the church and selling the land or to listen to that still small voice and risk it all to follow God’s will and provide hope to their new community even when it feels like all is lost.
All Saints is a well produced and written film. It contains a fantastic cast who deliver this story, drawing you into the film and taking you through their journey. It is important for a film based on a true story to feel believable and this one does, really bringing across a human emotion and response, which will touch and help change lives.
Throughout the film there are plenty of messages from being and caring for community and family, to showing hospitality, a message that is needed in today’s society. One of the most thought provoking messages is that of following God’s will even when we are going through trials. These messages do not come across preachy, they are well woven through the film and feel natural, they feel as they should, a lesson learned through real life situations.
Overall All Saints is a compelling story, that will inspire and challenge. With the pastor, the church and the Karen people facing many trials, this film will have you on the edge and prompt you to always seek God and follow his will in life even when it feels like everything is falling apart.
