Sound Of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot is a gritty but inspirational and emotional film based on a true story.

The film follows Donna and Reverend Martin and their Church in East Texas, USA. They ignited a movement for vulnerable children everywhere in which 22 families adopted 77 of the most difficult to place children from the local foster system.

The film is well directed and well made, the cast is strong and really bring emotional and raw performances bringing this true story to life.

This is not a easy story to watch, it is challenging, it is emotional, it is raw, it feels honest. The filmmakers show the pain, the realities and the difficulties of adopting children and the situations they faced. There are distressing and heartbreaking scenes and this film will not be suitable for everyone. There are gritty situations and unfortunately some bad language through the film and at times the film feels a little slow and could be shorter. The ending though is one of the most special parts of the film where we see the real lives that have been changed and what they are now doing.

However, while the filmmakers show these harsh realities, they also show the true reality of strong faith, how Jesus can and does change lives and how truly sharing his love can change this world. 

Overall Sound Of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot is raw, it is gritty, it is emotional and difficult, it doesn’t shy away from the hard realities of adoption, it shows the reality of Jesus changing lives and it encourages us to show Jesus’ love, His unfailing love to the most vulnerable and downtrodden. Let’s show love as Jesus shows love.
