Masterless is an exciting and unique fantasy based Christian film which explores the concept of who or what is our master, showing that Jesus should be our only master. Masterless is a journey which follows Kane Madison while he an atheist starts exploring Christianity and throughout the film you see what takes his focus, how temptations attack, how addictions can take hold and how life can be a struggle and even though life may be hard, our battle is not against flesh and blood, its against the powers of the dark world and our greatest weapon is the word of God. Making Jesus our master gives us faith and hope.
Masterless follows Kane Madison (Adam LaVorgna) an architect working in Los Angeles while his doppelganger-like spirit, an eighteenth century Ronin, wanders a parallel netherworld of masked demons and Japanese swordsmen. When tragedy strikes, Kane embarks on a journey of faith which prompts the Ronin to seek out his true master in the spirit world… Kane, an atheist, rejects his wife’s attempts to share her Christian faith with him. Then he is laid off, and one day he finds his wife passed out on the floor after a seizure. Out of desperation, he begins to explore her faith, he and the Ronin embark on journeys to discover their true masters. On the journey, the Ronin encounters many obstacles including a mysterious madam played by Kaho Minami, a well-known Japanese actress and the wife of actor Ken Watanabe, in her first English-speaking role.
The film from director/writer Craig Shimahara, is his first full-length feature, and he sets the contemporary story in the competitive world of architectural design, a field he knows intimately as the owner of an architectural illustration firm, Shimahara Illustration, in Los Angeles.
