The film follows three Magi Priests from different regions of the world who undergo their predestined and dangerous journey through the unforgiving desert, in hopes of finding proof of an age old prophecy. But Kings of men and fallen angels will stop at nothing to destroy the magi and the baby boy they old dear. These evils force the Wise men to confront and make peace with their own demons in order to prepare for the arrival of the new born King.
Chasing The Star is different to other Christmas films and is unique in its gripping story, taking the wise men and following their journey as they prepare to see the saviour of the world while facing spiritual battles and a crazy and somewhat evil King Herod. These Magi or wise men all face struggles from their past, which they confront along the way and find the redemption they need to be prepared to meet Jesus and find their true purpose. It is an encouraging reminder that everyone of us face struggles of all kinds and if we give these struggles, memories and pain over to Jesus, He can and will help us.
The cinematography is creative, of high quality and coupled with the soundtrack really delivers with an intimate and almost mysterious look and feel which really heightens and carries the story.
The film does cover themes of power, pride, love and loyalty in this story of good vs evil, light vs darkness and the truth and power of Christ.
In the advent period, as we get ready for Christmas and prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, this film leads us to the question: are we prepared for the coming of our saviour, Jesus?
